Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves the breathing of oxygen by a patient who is exposed to a pressure up to 3 times greater than standard atmospheric pressure. This results in the administration of a high dose of oxygen. The device used to provide the elevated pressure and administer the oxygen is a Hyperbaric Chamber. Te combination of breathin oxygen and elevated pressure has shown to have substantial theriputic benefits for a wide range of clinical conditions. In certain illnesses, HBOT is considered as an indispensable therapy option, and research is ongoing further delineate its use in an even wider range of clinical conditions.
